Stensgård & Midtliens quartet was formed in 1978 in Lillehammer / Gausdal. They quickly became a top act among Norwegian old dance ensembles. They signify as a Gudbrandsdal - Orchestra. Much of the repertoire is taken from these areas but they were also influenced by other regions as Romsdal and Røros. Stensgård & Midtlien’s quartet was twice elected as Norwegian Champions in Tradiotional Dance Music. The quartet consists of Stein Stensgård (accordion), Bjørn Midtlien (femrader), Øystein Veisten (guitar) and Terje Lund (bass). Stensgård & Midtlien’s quartet has a distinct, powerful and juicy way of playing. Sometimes they also add odd instruments like axe, stones and inch stick to help the music off the ground! They have made a number of exciting albums
